Cribs
Cribs generally provide the longest period of use. Check mattress fit, hardware, mattress-height settings and the condition of every slat and fastener. Do not modify the crib or add an aftermarket mattress.
Bassinets and cradles
These can be convenient for early months but often have lower weight or developmental limits. Stop use when the manual says, including when the baby can roll, push up or reach another milestone.
Bedside sleepers
A bedside product must be designed for that purpose and installed exactly as instructed. Ordinary bassinets, nests or improvised sidecar arrangements are not interchangeable with a compliant bedside sleeper.

When to reassess or stop
Reassess after every move, mattress-height change or developmental milestone. Stop immediately when parts are missing, the structure is damaged, the permitted configuration is unclear or the product has reached a stated limit.
Keep the receipt, manual and permanent-label photographs together. If a model cannot be identified or the permitted use is uncertain, pause and verify before relying on it.
